“I remember going shopping with my Mom when I was younger, as early as 7 years old. Whenever we’d pass by the kid’s clothing, shoes and accessories I’d be enamored by all the merchandise and want to stay there. In 1st grade we went to Payless and I fell in love with these white blocked heel sandals with a jeweled heart on them. I was so excited that my mom bought them for me. I still to this day remember exactly how they looked like. I loved them so much I even wore them around the house (which is a no, no in Asian households). So, I developed my interest and passion for style at a very early age.” – Christine Yun

Childhood Spark

Christine Yun grew up under a middle-class home with her parents who had immigrated from South Korea. Her family didn’t always have extra money, so, Christine learned how to be resourceful at a young age. Her parents couldn’t always afford to splurge on what she wanted, however this helped to spark Christine’s creativity, especially when it came to clothes.

“I’d try to create as many looks with a single piece of clothing by utilizing accessories to make my outfit look different. I’d get hand me downs that were all too big on me, so taught myself how to sew when I was 11 so I could alter them to fit me. This transverses into my style now,” Christine says.

It’s something about the versatility of accessories that captures Christine attention. “I enjoy splurging on luxury staples like handbags and accessories, and mixing it with trendy apparel that speaks to my individual style,” Christine describes. “My fashion obsessed friend Debra who was just as addicted encouraged me to create my own blog. We launched both of ours around the same time and that sense of comradery and support helped give me the confidence to start my own blog.” – Christine Yun

What style/fashion accessory is your favorite?

Currently, it’s my engagement ring because of the sentimental value but designer handbags have been and always will be my favorite accessory. It’s the one thing I’m always willing to splurge on.

If you can/could consider yourself an expert in one area of style/fashion, what would it be?

It would be boho chic summer wear. One thing I love about boho style is the usage of accessories to make you stand out and I pride myself on always knowing how to accessorize to jazz up any outfit.

Can you give me a tutorial on how people can best incorporate that style/fashion advice in their life?

Yes! First off, people can check out my blog www.trendenvy.com to read tips and style advice. Also, an easy tip is to always accessorize for the warm weather and choose something that differentiates yourself amongst everyone else. Things like a hat, a headband/turband, or some killer sunglasses will do.
