Mixing high and low fashion has become an increasingly popular approach to style. But not everyone can do it right! One person that does this very well is Jamie Rockers. Jamie’s specialty is taking streetwear and adding high end pairings to top it off. “ I love to write about high street style mixed with designer accessories. I call this high/low dressing. And I think it’s important that my audience knows where they can buy the latest fashion trend but also where can they find the perfect designer bag to treat themselves with,” Jamie explains.
Inspired
Because of the approach she takes to fashion, Jamie’s style is unique. I couldn’t help but to dive right in and find out what inspires her. As we were conversing, Jamie gave me a little glimpse at to what has inspired the way she dresses. “I love following fast fashion trends however I still like to talk about pieces that consist of quality in mind. I first got really happy and passionate about fashion and style after I moved to London. Definately, I was really cool by what I was seeing on Instagram and I loved watching London street-style. I also paid attention to what was happening at London Fashion Week and other high profile fashion events,” Jamie says.
“My personal style is all about (as mentioned before) high/low dressing. I want to be someone who can wake up and feel effortless. In this way I’m inspired by Parisian street style dressing because the Paris It Girls look like they just they woke up the way they did but look fabulous at the same time. I don’t like an overly done look – I like to be hip and chic but also casual and comfortable at the same time,” Jamie continues.
Start
After learning a little about what inspired Jamie’s style, I was curious about what lead her to choose a career path in the virtual realm. She took me all the way back to her childhood and how they sparked her curiosity to explore new cultures. “My childhood and upbringing has definitely linked to my inspiration. I grew up in a really small town and all I wanted when I was younger was to explore the world so that’s definitely influenced my travel and wanderlust,” Jamie exclaims!
And as for blogging, let’s just say that social media can be such a wonderful place! “I started on this blog journey because I was always on social media! I was always looking and getting inspiration for fashion and beauty from Instagram, Twitter and YouTube so I thought that’s probably what I should be doing. And I also wrote for a travel website. Not to mention, II also published two books. So, writing was a natural fit for me,” Jamie says.

Jamie gets so much satisfaction from the career path she has chosen which is something that many people cannot say. If fact she gets so much satisfaction that when I asked what was her biggest accomplishment so far, she couldn’t define her success by just one thing. “The milestones I’m most proud of in my blogging career are becoming a Lookfantastic beauty ambassador and launching my own range of Beauty boxes. Also all the amazing travel I get to do! I’d also love it if I’ve inspired someone else do something – whether it’s booking a trip to their dream destination or buying that lipstick they’ve always wanted.
It has also been highly rewarding to have all the travel opportunities that have come my way through blogging. From amazing Caribbean destinations to the Far East to right on my doorstep, it’s been incredible,” Jamie details.
Think about the 80/20 rule; if you get 80% of your impact from 20% of what you do, what is that 20% for you as it pertains to developing and expressing your personal style?
In regards to the 80/20 rule I think for the 20% as it pertains to developing and expressing my personal style I would say that it’s all about feeling comfortable in your own skin and also dressing the way you want. At the end of the day if you’re only dressing to please others you will never be happy. This is also the kind of confidence that can be infectious to others.
What about discovering new styles to incorporate into your look and style?
I always find inspiration through Instagram. And sure there are trends but you can take them or leave them – it’s up to you!

I love ASOS for bringing the catwalk to the web and Nasty Gal for being one of the leaders in trend-led fashion with a unique identity.
