Artistic expression and creative outlet are very important to Kim Kong. Originally using music as her creative outlet of choice, Kim has recently expanded her expression to the world of fashion and rightfully so! “I’m a pianist + teacher yet, blogging was yet another creative outlet for me! I love fashion because it’s an artistic statement – one can showcase their personality without uttering a word,” Kim says.
Work and Play
Kim has so many roles that she has taken on, yet she enjoys every minute that she spends “working.” “I spent an ungodly amount of time practicing piano and studying growing up, which has shaped my work ethic for the better. 16-hour workdays are normal for me, but I’m not complaining – I feel lucky about it all because I’m so passionate about everything I do, and my different “jobs” constantly keep me on my toes.
While I love being a pianist and teachers, I felt I had something very important that I could contribute to the world of fashion. I wanted to show readers that they could live a glam life on a budget! Sensible Stylista’s about having it all – a rocking professional life + an exciting personal one. Who says you can’t have both,” Kim exclaims!

Her Style
Fashion wasn’t something that Kim was always into. It was the streets of NYC that brought out the true fashionista in Kim. “I used to be a HUGE tomboy back in the day, but everything changed when I moved to NYC for graduate school – I was there for 2 years while I got my Master’s degree at Juilliard for piano performance. I was surrounded by incredible fashionistas who inspired me to develop my own personal style.
Now, I’m a style chameleon. I wear a lot of different hats (doctoral student, piano teacher, pianist, blogger, and freelance social media consultant) so I adjust according to each and every situation! I tend to like polished ensembles with girly touches though. You’ll often see me in pretty dresses and skirts,” Kim describes.
Future
Kim definitely does not have plans of slowing down anytime soon. Beyond training others in the art of music, she also plans to continue creating an impact on the fashion industry as well. She strives to continue to strive forward in all her endeavors, especially with the love and support of her family and friends. “I couldn’t be happier with my current tribe! My family and friends mean everything to me, and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who support and inspire me endlessly.
I’m currently trying to finish my doctoral dissertation, prep for upcoming concerts and work on my youtube channel (I seriously need to upload more videos), all the while maintaining my blog and focusing on creating the best content possible,” Kim says.

Who do you consider the icons in the fashion & design industry?
I don’t really look to the industry for inspiration! I keep up with “trends” because I want to stay on top of the fashion world, but I find everyday women to be much more interesting.
What are you reading these days?
I’m currently re-reading, “The Power of Habit” because it was SUCH an incredible book! I’m actually big into self-help because I’m always trying to become the best version of myself – cheesy but 200% true.
What style/fashion accessory is your favorite?
I LOVE designer handbags – they’re my achilles’ heel – and OTK boots.
If you can/could consider yourself an expert in one area of style/fashion, what would it be?
I’m good at finding great deals, knowing when to save versus when to splurge, and remixing pieces on the regular to get the most bang for my buck!
